5:11 A 15 years long career and parties, twentytwo 12inch vinyl, about thirty remixes, dynamite live performances on stages all over the world, it's hard to believe that Rodeo Disco is only the third album by David Carretta. But you better believe it, this discreet producer from Marseille has come a long way. And this master piece is not his first ride! At the age of seven David was already building drums out of plastic cans, was proud of his first plastic guitar and was performing playbacks with wooden microphone. After being up to no good for 10 years and integrating the work forces before he got in trouble, he abandoned his dreams of drums, found a drum machine, and started a band with a friend equally fond of electro music in the not so exiting town of Tarbes, in the mist of the rather dark 80'S. Art Kinder Industry, their code name, goes from industrial music, new wave to EBM. "We played wearing military suits and gaz masks. We made our own teeshirts, we had four compositions worth it in 88, but it was hard to find a label in those days". During four years, David and his buddy toured in the south of France christening their explosive live performance on themes such as nuclear weapon or the Middle East conflict. All this before the raves and techno could show their massive beats. The beginning of techno music in France hit the young Carretta hard. 5:03 Eric Burdon and War was an American funk band from California, known for the hit songs "Low Rider", "Spill the Wine", "The Cisco Kid" and "Why Can't We Be Friends?". Formed in 1969, War was a musical crossover band which fused elements of rock, funk, jazz, Latin American music, rhythm and blues, and reggae. The band also transcended racial and cultural barriers with a multi-ethnic line-up. The band has sold over 50 million records to date. Although Eric Burdon & War's lyrics are often socio-political in nature, their music usually had a laid-back, California funk vibe. A particular feature of their sound is the use of harmonica and saxophone playing melody lines in unison, sounding like a single instrument, for example in the melody of "Low Rider". The music has been sampled and recorded by many singers and groups, ranging from R&B / pop singers such as Janet Jackson to nu metal band Korn and hip hop groups like TLC. "Spill the Wine" is a 1970 song performed by Eric Burdon and War. Released as a single in May 1970 (backed by the non-album track "Magic Mountain"), it was Eric Burdon & War's first chart hit, peaking at number three. It was also a top three hit in Canada and Australia. It charted #15 in Netherlands and #28 in Germany. In 1996, it was remixed by Junior Vasquez and released as a single again.
